Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and pneumonia caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica.
Bordetella bronchiseptica is a rare cause of invasive human infection. The most common infection in humans is the respiratory tract infection and it is usually associated with immunosuppression, particularly acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). We report a case of a pneumonia and peritonitis in a 42-year-old female with alcoholic liver disease. The patient died despite treatment with anti...
متن کاملBordetella bronchiseptica bronchitis.
The clinical course of a patient with bronchitis caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica is described. The infection was eradicated with antimicrobial therapy.
متن کاملHuman infections associated with Bordetella bronchiseptica.
This study examines the potential of Bordetella bronchiseptica to act as a human pathogen. After encountering two patients from whom B. bronchiseptica was isolated, we searched the literature and found 23 reports in which a human infection was reported in association with B. bronchiseptica. As a basis for evaluating these cases, we summarize the literature about the current microbiological stat...
متن کاملQuantitative PCR and Cytology of Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid in Dogs with Bordetella bronchiseptica Infection
BACKGROUND The use of quantitative PCR (qPCR) for detection of Bordetella bronchiseptica in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and demonstration of bacteria adhering to ciliated epithelial cells in BALF or bronchial brushing fluid (BBF) has not been assessed in a series of affected dogs. Coinfections can worsen the clinical severity in bordetellosis, but the specific association with Mycoplasm...
متن کاملPoor Association of Bordetella Bronchiseptica Infection with Kennel Cough in Dogs in Northern India
In the study nasal and throat swabs were collected from 78 apparently healthy and 69 cases of kennel cough from dogs of different age, sex, breed and places and analysed for presence of Bordetella bronchiseptica through bacterial isolation and multiplex PCR (mPCR). The pathogen could be isolated from an apparently healthy Labrador bitch while with mPCR, 7 (4.76%, 4 from healthy dogs and 3 from ...
